The faculty offers a total of 18 courses in the subjects of Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Geosciences and Geography, combining both natural science and social sciences. It is one of the larger faculties at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in terms of personnel and structure.

The faculty’s various disciplines are characterized by a modern infrastructure, innovative teaching methods, and an extensive integration of theoretical and practical elements within the course of study. International and interdisciplinary networking also plays a special role here, making it reason why many first-year students choose one of the faculty’s varied degree programs every year.

What are the faculty’s research units at JGU and which degree programs can I study at the faculty? How is the respective degree program structured and what can I do with my degree? What support is available and who can help me? The answers to these and many other questions can be found in the subject brochures and course flyers of Faculty 09 (available in German).

The operational administration of examinations and courses in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs as well as in the State Examination in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Faculty 09 is carried out by the student advising offices for the respective subjects.

They are also the examination offices for the respective subjects.

Studying and taking examinations is regulated on various legal bases. Each individual degree program has its own examination regulations, which are legally binding for both the students and the subjects. Additionally, further legal bases apply across all disciplines regulate how the university is run in general.

The examination committees and the study committee in Pharmaceutical Sciences are responsible for all decisions to be made based of the respective examination regulations. The examination committees are supported in their administrative activities by the responsible examination offices and student advising offices. The examination committees also provide both the responsible Committee for Teaching and Learning as well as faculty with suggestions for reforming the curricula and examination regulations. The examination committees also decide on student applications and appeals based on examination law.
